On Sunday, February 7th, 2021, Carmen Gonzales, beloved wife and mother of three children, passed away at the age of 63.
Carmen was born on July 16th, 1957 in West Covina, CA to Joe and Mary Carlos. She entered the workforce at the age of 16 doing income taxes with her Mother, Mary. At the age of 20, she began working for United California Bank, formally known as First Interstate Bank in the Student Loans Department. On May 30th,1981, she married Ernest Rodriguez Gonzales. Together they raised two children, Eddie and Evonne Gonzales.
In September 1994, Carmen and her family moved to Gilbert, AZ, where she began working for The Maricopa County Community Colleges for the Capital Assets Department.
Carmen had a passion for crafts such as making beaded jewelry for her children and grandbabies; from necklaces and lanyards that matched her work outfits, to bracelets and rosaries for her children’s and grandchildren’s special occasions. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and indulging in satirical television shows. She loved spending time with family, going to yard sales with her sister, Anita, grabbing her Starbucks and going on shopping sprees. She also had a sailor mouth and anyone who knew her, knew it was just who she was. Carmen was known to her entire family as The Queen Bee, since she was always ready to show support and give a helping hand to those in need without hesitation. She has been described as being resilient, strong, fearless and fierce. She was loving, giving, dedicated and beautiful.
Carmen was preceded in death by her father Joe, and her brother Joe Jr. She is survived by her husband Ernie, her three children, Eddie, Mary and Evonne, her sisters Mary Ann and Anita, her brothers John and Jesse, her grandbabies, Lexine, Sofia, Joaquin, Leo, Olivia and Natalia, her great granddaughter, Ariana and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 18th, 2021 at the Legacy Funeral Home at 1374 N. Arizona Ave, Chandler, AZ 85225. Viewing is 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Service is 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Final Viewing is 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Carmen’s final resting place will be held at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery at 444 E. Lexington Ave, Pomona, CA, on Monday, February 22, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.
