It is with deep sorrow and much love that the family of David Charles Notch announce his passing on August 30, 2021,

David was born on July 3, 1967 to father Alvin Notch and mother Roberta Roop-Hawk in Akron, OH.

David was the constant entertainer, whether dressing up in Grandma Roop’s clothes, making movies, wearing his hats from his large collection and having an accent or skit for each one, performing as leading roles for musicals in high school and college, he could put a smile on anyone’s face and brighten their day.

David was a 1986 graduate of Northwest High School, Ohio University in 1990 and Kent State University in 1995. While attending Ohio University, he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.

David will be sadly missed and forever in the hearts of his children; Victoria Anne, Elisabeth Christina and David Alexander all at home; former wife Lisa Grohl-Notch who has been with David through thick and thin; loving mother, Roberta G Roop-Hawk of Canal Fulton; devoted brother Robert (Mindy) of Louisville and sister, Victoria Hawk of South Carolina; nephews, Rory Notch and Rylan Notch; great-nephew, Levi Notch; uncles, Charles Roop, Nick (Carol) Notch, Larry (Mary) Notch, Joe (Jane) Notch; Aunt Janet (Ken) Mitchell, and numerous cousins and lifelong friends.

David is preceded in death by his father, Alvin Notch; stepfather, Attorney Melvin Hawk; maternal grandparents, Robert and Mary Catherine Roop; paternal grandparents, Nicholas and Frances Notch and many aunts and uncles.

I was saddened to hear of David’s passing. We worked together at AGMC in the OR. Whenever I walked into my room for the day and saw David I knew it would be a good day because no matter what he would always make everyone smile with his jovial and entertaining way. He loved his kids and always spoke of them like a proud father. I know he will be missed but I am sure he left you all with plenty of “David” isms.
May his memory always be a blessing. My sincere sympathy to his family.

Dave was the literal life of the party, and he made any gathering a party just by him being there! I can still hear a bit of the Butterbean song, sung in his voice. He was absolutely magical. My deepest sympathies to Lisa and their children, Vikki and Rob, and their Mom and family.
