Kenneth Wesley Hardin was born October 24, 1938 in Midland, TX. He passed away in Phoenix, AZ on November 23, 2018. Ken was raised in Midland, TX. After his first tour in the Army, he met and married Nelda Evans Hardin in Midland, TX in 1963. His Army career took him around the world to places like Taiwan, Korea, Vietnam, Alaska, Germany, Arizona,Oklahoma, Maryland, New Mexico and Texas. He was enlisted for 21 years retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1980 and went back to work for the US Army as a civilian contractor retiring for the second time in 1999. His career with Uncle Sam spanned 37 years and two wars. After his second retirement, they lived in Brownwood, TX and finally Tempe, AZ. His bride of 54 years passed away on July 8, 2017 and they were reunited upon his death. He is survived by his two children: Kevin Hardin and his wife Deena and Kendra Altrock and her husband Chris; his brothers: Aaron Miller and his wife Marcella and Doyle Hardin and his wife Nelva; his sister Jeanne Burdine and her husband Emery; and his grandchildren Connor, Brianna, Jacob and Jordan.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 30, at Legacy Funeral Home, 1374 N Arizona Avenue, Chandler AZ, 85225. Kenneth Hardin will be laid to rest with his wife, Nelda Hardin at a graveside service to be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona at 1:30 p.m. with full military honors. Celebration of Life to follow at 3:30 p.m. at 6441 West Gail Drive, Chandler, AZ 85226.
