Lynn Melvin Urry, 80, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2020 in Mesa, AZ.
He was born July 4, 1940 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The son of Irene Whetton and Willard Urry of Salt Lake City.
Lynn married his high school sweetheart Judy Young on June 1, 1960 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Judy preceded Lynn in death. He married his second wife Jean Petersen on December, 18, 2003 in the Mesa Temple.
Lynn is survived by his wife Jean and his 5 children Sandi (Don) Cichon, Shari Jones, Scott (Peggy) Urry, Staci (David) Cutchen, and Shane (Meredith) Urry. His brother Richard Urry and sister Virginia Mosley.
He will be deeply missed by his 19 grandchildren Brian, Kyle, Brittney, Breana, Brandi, Brock, Gunnar, McKenna, Ashlynne, Mallory, Gannon, Trey, Tori, Trevor, Tyson, Tatum, Mason, Kendall and Annie, and his 15 great grand-children.
Lynn loved his family and always put them first. He was often found coaching their teams because it was the perfect combination of his love of sports and his family. His impact on the lives of many through his love and support of sporting programs will never be forgotten. His extended family and the friends of his children were always made to feel a comfortable part of his home. He made everyone around him feel like they were family.
Lynn led by quiet example and was a wonderful patriarch to his family. He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served diligently in many capacities.
He was a successful entrepreneur and had a 45-year career as a State Farm Agent.
Lynn’s accomplishments in life and impact on others were immeasurable. He left this life and the world around him significantly better in all aspects than when he came into it.
We love and will miss him.
Visitation will be Friday, January 22, 2021 from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm at LDS Chapel 555 S. Recker Rd, Gilbert AZ 85296. We invite everyone, friends, family, and business associates.
Funeral service will take place Saturday, January 23, 2021 at LDS Chapel, 555 S. Recker Rd, Gilbert AZ 85296 at 11:00 am with family visitation at 10:00 am. Due to local COVID restrictions attendance at the funeral service will be by invitation only.
Interment following at City of Mesa Cemetery.
