Glenn F. Dukes, an Army Veteran, devoted professor, and beloved family man, passed away on December 25, 2019 in Youngtown, Arizona. He was 84.
Glenn was born on June 8th, 1935 to Ora and Chloe Dukes on the family farm outside Sheridan, Missouri. He was the youngest of 6 children. In 1956, Glenn married his high school sweetheart (Donna Wall) and began a 63-year romance. He is survived by his wife and two children Linda (Jerry) Whalen of Lakeville, MN and Rob (Isabel) Dukes of Glendale, AZ and his two grandchildren Zachary and Shannon Whalen and 22 nieces and nephews.
Upon graduating high school and after serving in the U.S. Army, Glenn earned his Masters and PHD degrees in education from Iowa State University in Ames Iowa. Upon graduation, Glenn moved his young family to Winona, MN where he began a 27-year career as a professor at Winona State University, teaching Industrial Arts and Computer Sciences.
In his free time Glenn enjoyed golf, fishing, pheasant hunting, building things and traveling. Many memories were made while traveling during the summers throughout the U.S. and Canada to visit friends and family, in whatever motorhome he built (including a school bus and potato chip delivery truck).
Glenn was devoted to his Lord, Jesus Christ, his wife and his family. He inspired us with his example of what love and hard work could do. His legacy will live on with his teachings and the famous rocking horses he made with so much love.
No service is planned at this time. A Celebration of Life may be planned at a later date.
