Sunny Knox, 65, died on May 31st, 2020 in Chandler, Arizona.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 7th, 2020 from 10 am – noon at Legacy Funeral Home, 1374 N. Arizona Ave., Chandler, Arizona 85226.
Sunny was born on April 8th 1955 in Des Monies, Iowa to Walter Nahno Kerchee Jr and Nadine Poweshiek on a Sunny day. She had 3 older sisters (Joyce, Sallie, and Sandy), 2 younger sisters (Peggy, and Wynema) and one younger brother (Royal).
Sunny grew up in Des Moines and graduation High School in 1972 before she attended Bishop Young University. While there she took interest in acting, modeling, singing, and swimming.
She graduated with an associates. While in that time Sunny had 1 daughter (Dawn Howard) and 3 sons (Lawerence Yazzie, Lamoni Yazzie, and Shawn Yazzie). Sunny was than a teacher at Cash High School where she demonstrated her dedication for helping the youth. It was during that time that Sunny met the love of her life Daries Knox. They were married in 1995 and a year later welcomed a daughter (Cheyenne Knox). During their 25 year union they shared countless memories, love, and good times together.
Sunny always had a love for education and went to Cameron University. She was a part of the Jamaican club, Photography, African American club, Native American Club, Psychology club, and an active member of Cameron Campus Ministry.
Her interests include gardening, walking, sewing, reading, cleaning, cooking, thrift store shopping, learning, sports, spending time with children, and was an active member of the Comanche Nation Elder Center.
She is survived by her loving Husband, Daries Knox; mother, Nadine Kerchee; mother-in-law, Queen Walters, four sisters, Joyce, Sallie Tonips Kerchee, Sandy, and Wynema; One brother, Royal Kerchee; one sister in law, Yolanda Knox, 2 daughters, Dawn Howard and Cheyenne Knox; 3 sons, Lawerence Yazzie, Lamoni Yazzie, and Shawn Yazzie; 12 grand children, Zaine Stienmyer, Zachary Stienmyer, Matt Chapman, Kaylah Yazzie, Skyler Yazzie, Nanabah Yazzie, Sage Yazzie, Shawn Yazzie, Samuel Howard, Isaac Howard,Saryah Yazzie, and Pearce Yazzie; 1 niece, Nadine Hill, and 2 cousins Ruth Addy, and Edie Lopez.
She was preceded in death by her father Walter Nahno Kerchee Jr, her sister Peggy Kerchee, and one uncle Richard Poweshiek.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 7th, 2020 from 10 am - noon at Legacy Funeral Home, 1374 N. Arizona Ave., Chandler, Arizona 85226.

    I am so sorry for your loss. Sunny was a very special person. Sunny and I grew up in the same neighbor hood and went to school together. She will be missed!
