Obituary of Barbara Lynn Sayer

Our dear mother and sister Barbara Lynn Sayer sadly passed away on March 17, 2024, at the age of 77. She was loved and will be missed in this life by children, grandchildren, brother and friends. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saint community in Vernon, AZ. Barbara was predeceased by Larry Chapman and Jerry Sayer and is survived by brother Bruce Artman, sons Daniel Swingle, Timothy Swingle, and Kevin Swingle, and daughter Michele Jackson.

Barbara was born August 21, 1946 in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Her family moved to Los Alamitos, California when she was six years old. She lived in southern California until attending Utah State University to obtain an education degree. While raising her family, she continued her education eventually earning a master’s degree in Special Education. Barbara raised her three sons and daughter in Arizona and South Carolina. She worked as a substitute teacher and special education teacher to support her family. After retirement in 2000, she moved to Vernon, AZ to escape the heat and enjoy the beauty of the White Mountains.

Barbara was active in her church life and responsibilities in which she particularly enjoyed genealogy and family history. She served as a family history consultant during much of her life to help others in their search for their ancestors. Barbara frequently contacted record keepers, churches, and historical places to inquire about names and relationships to connect many, many generations. She felt particularly guided by the Spirit in her calling to find long lost people while making these connections. Barbara enthusiastically enjoyed sharing these stories with all she met!

Family and friends are invited to services which will be held in her honor on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.
