Christina Herrera

Obituary of Christina Jean Herrera

Christina was born on June 5, 1955, in Spanish Fork, Utah to Crestino Valerio Jr. and Rowena Gail Earley. Chris and her brother Victor spent their summers and holidays in Fredonia, Arizona and Springville Utah with their extended family. Chris always said they were some of her best memories. The family moved to Mesa in the 1970s and Chris attended Westwood High School. Chris met and married Eddie M. Herrera in 1972 and had two children, Jamie, and Michael. Chris raised her children in Mesa and both Jamie and Michael graduated as proud Mesa High Jackrabbits.

Chris worked in the Materials Management field for most of her career at companies like ITT Courier, Tomar, and retired from Wisdom Natural Brands. She was known for her punctuality, her excellent attendance, and the value she placed on being a good employee.

The joy of Chris’s life was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to have sleepovers that included baking sessions and movie nights. Her grandchildren will remember her love of music, early weekend mornings at the swap meet, nail salon visits, bike rides and numerous pool parties during the hot Arizona summers.

Chris will be remembered for her love of the simple things in life and wanted to make sure she shared those with her family. She was an avid animal lover and could not tolerate a sick, hungry, or mistreated animal not being cared for with both love and kindness.

Chris will be deeply missed by her family. The memories she helped create will be remembered with love and gratitude for their special meaning.

Chris is survived by her mother Ms. Rowena Earley (David), her daughter Jamie Herrera, her son Michael (Irene), seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father, Crestino, and her brother Victor.
