Obituary of Vernon Overturf

Vernon Overturf, 76, died March 30, 2024, at his home, in Sun Lakes, AZ. He was surrounded by his loving wife of 45 years, 2 daughters, and son-in-law .  Vernon was born February 24, 1948 in Oklahoma City to Calvin and Lucille (Burrows) Overturf. He was the youngest of 10 children. He graduated from Oklahoma Christian College.

Work brought Vernon to Louisiana, where he met his wife, Helen.

Vernon and Helen moved to Arizona less than a yr ago to be near their children and grandchildren. He enjoyed sitting on the patio with his 2 dogs watching the squirrels, birds and rabbits.He was a devoted family man. Vernon enjoyed sharing his life experiences especially his time in the peace corps in Korea. He was jovial and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was especially proud of his ability to boil crawfish as well as native born Cajuns.  

He is survived by his wife, Helen (Baudry). His 2 daughters, Stephanie Miller (Dave) and Jill LeBlanc. His grandchildren Dylan Cross, Michael, Santos and Ruby Miller, his sisters in law, Barbara LeLeux and Monica Baudry, and brothers in law Sonny and Rene Baudry, his beloved dogs Chloe and Puppy, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was proceeded in death by his brother in law Calvin Leleux and sister in law Stephanie Baudry, his parents and all of his siblings. Brothers Amos, Hartford, Sylvester, George, Henderson and David Overturf. Sisters Phyllis Seats, Dorothy Rains and Martha Barnes.

There will be a memorial service April 12th, 2024 in Berwick, LA.
